Union Through Communion

Union Through Communion

.

"Man does not achieve union with God as a drop of water might find unity with the ocean. Man attains divine union by progressive reciprocal spiritual communion..." 1:7.2 (31.2)

Union with God is not about losing yourself in some vast, impersonal ocean. It’s not about dissolving individuality or escaping responsibility. Instead, it is about growing into a living, reciprocal relationship. Every act of faith, every choice to love, every moment of stillness in prayer or reflection becomes a thread woven into this communion. It is not disappearance—it is partnership.

This changes everything. Instead of fearing the loss of self, we discover that our uniqueness is enhanced through divine connection. The more we commune, the more fully ourselves we become—liberated from grudges, resilient through sorrow, alive with truth and love. Spiritual life, then, is not a static state but a progressive unfolding: a daily practice of listening, responding, and walking forward with the assurance that we are met at every step by the One who calls us higher.

Such communion prepares us for the challenges of life. It equips us to forgive where others cannot, to stand strong when sorrow strikes, and to extend compassion in places where bitterness seems easier. This is how divine union takes root: not in escape, but in the courage to live fully and faithfully here and now, strengthened by the presence of God within us.
